Terms of Use

Rhythm Journal · Melaku Digital Inc. (Ontario, Canada) · Last updated: June 29, 2026

By using Rhythm Journal you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.

License

Melaku Digital Inc. grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Rhythm Journal on Apple devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Your content

You own all journal entries, notes, drawings, recordings, voice transcriptions, and other content you create in Rhythm Journal. We claim no rights to your content. Because we cannot access your data, we cannot use, sell, or share it.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the app only for lawful personal purposes, and not to attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute the app. You agree not to use any AI feature for unlawful purposes or to generate unlawful content.

Voice recording & transcription

Audio recording and transcription are performed on your device only; audio is not stored by the app or transmitted to us. Transcription is provided by Apple's Speech framework and may contain inaccuracies — you are responsible for reviewing the text. You are also solely responsible for obtaining any consent required by the laws of your jurisdiction before recording other people.

Receipt scanning

The receipt-scanning feature uses your device camera or photo library to capture receipt images. All text recognition is performed on your device using Apple's Vision framework; no receipt image or parsed data is transmitted to us or any server. You are responsible for any legal obligations that apply to storing receipts in your jurisdiction.

AI features

On supported devices, AI features run on-device at no cost. You may optionally connect your own third-party AI provider by supplying your own API key. If you do, your use of that provider is governed by that provider's terms and pricing, you are responsible for any costs you incur and for your own compliance with its terms, and you use it at your own risk. This option is disabled by default.

Premium features

Rhythm Journal is currently free to use. We may introduce optional premium features in the future through an in-app purchase. Core features available today will remain free, and pricing for any premium features will be disclosed clearly before any purchase.

In-app purchases

Any future in-app purchases will be processed by Apple through the App Store. Subscriptions, if offered, automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and can be managed or cancelled in your Apple ID account settings.

Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, except to the extent such warranties cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, nor do we warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any AI-generated or transcribed content.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Melaku Digital Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the app, including but not limited to loss of data or any reliance on AI-generated or transcribed content.

Data responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining backups of your own data. Because your journal lives entirely on your device and your personal iCloud, enabling iCloud sync is strongly recommended to prevent data loss if your device is lost or damaged.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation for a period of at least 30 days; if unresolved, through binding arbitration in Ontario. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you may have under applicable consumer-protection legislation that cannot be waived or excluded by contract, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) and equivalent provincial statutes.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time and will notify you via an in-app prompt or an app update. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
